Glass ceiling remains

Despite all efforts to break the glass ceiling, women are still struggling to get into top jobs.

Recent research by Egon Zehnder and European Womans Professional Network found that only 7 per cent of management positions in the Netherlands are held by women, compared to 22 per cent in Norway and Sweden.

Women are also failing to advance in the police, NOS has investigated. Of the 369 women who were trained internally for top jobs in recent years, none managed to become chief constables. Although two of the 26 chiefs of police are women, they were not trained internally. At outplacement agency CareerSolution, this is a theme that recurs regularly in the outplacement programs.
