Costs Outplacement higher educated often higher than of lower educated candidates
Also big difference in income
In 2009, the average income of people in employment was just over €36,000. Here, the average income of high-skilled workers was almost twice as high as that of low-skilled workers. When corrected for working hours and gender, even then the difference in income between high-skilled and low-skilled workers remains large.
More than 30% of all employees are highly educated
Over 30% of the working labour force have completed college or university education. Over 40% have completed a secondary-level education. They have completed a mbo degree or at least 4 years of havo or vwo. The rest are low-educated. On average, women are slightly more educated than men.
The higher the level of education the higher the income
A low-skilled employee earned over 26 thousand euros on average in 2009. A highly educated employee earned almost twice as much at over 49 thousand euros. The difference between low- and medium-skilled employees is significantly less than between medium- and highly-skilled employees. The education-related differences apply to both men and women. However, for men, the income is always significantly higher than for women at each education level.
Cost of outplacement higher educated than lower educated
Also with regard to the cost of outplacement there is a difference between higher-educated and lower-educated people. For higher educated people, the costs are on average twice as high as the costs of outplacement for lower educated people. However, it is true that outplacement programs for the higher educated often take longer, are individual and more complex than outplacement programs of lower educated people.
